Hayne Farm is now in its 5th generation, Peter being the 5th. Peter works in partnership with his wife and mother and has managed the farm for 22 years.

The farm has 170 acres of grassland in the Blackdown hills. They have 110 milking cows and produce 850,000 litres of milk annually; they sell their milk to Tesco via Muller Dairies.

Peter was looking to improve herd health and future proof the farm by investing in 2 Lely Astronaut A4 Milking robots. This would increase productivity, and therefore profitability in a difficult market. There are also health benefits for the cows, by allowing them to milk more often which reduces the cases of mastitis. The technology will also monitor the cows health and allow for early detection of illness.

This is a significant investment in a new technology and will allow the business to grow. The project will create 1 FTE on the farm.
